Sending function keys to remote Windows desktops

Ever trying to remote control a remote desktop but need to send a function key to it for whatever reason?  Great example is trying to log into a remote vmware console where you have to press F2 just to get the login prompt.  Well Windows 7 and Server 2008+ have a very simple tool called On Screen Keyboard that will pop up, stay on top and let you ‘type’ whatever you need.  On the server you’re controlling, just do a Start -> Run -> osk and you’re good to go:
